Prayer of St. Ephrem the Syrian

I came across this prayer when working on a breviary for the University Ministries at Samford. St. Ephrem is the patron saint of spiritual directors and leaders. I really enjoyed this prayer then, and have included it in the new breviary I am writing for them (the previous two will be in the media section soon). For now, here’s my translation of this saint’s prayer (it was originally in Greek).

Lord and Master of my life,
Don’t give me a spirit of laziness,
nosiness, arrogance, or gossip,
but give me a spirit of integrity,
humility, patience, and love.
Lord and King,
Let me see my own mistakes,
and not judge my brothers and sisters.
Blessed are You from age to age.
Amen.
